This year we didn’t have a few weeks to spare to round up 21 sailorettes for the mermaid parade, like we did last year…

Instead I spent an evening shopping and hot-gluing with my bestie Jenene and our totally game friends Jenni and Cyndi.

I love how each of our hats came out completely differently, though we were all drawing from the exact same materials.

We didn’t really come up with this idea ourselves, we were inspired by the SF Day of the Dead Memorial Parade, an annual event, which we discovered via our beautiful friend Tamera…you can click through this image for her amazingly colorful flickr.

In fact I’ll be in SF for half of August, I cannot wait! Any recommendations?
